It’s that time of year again, and if you’re a traveler like me or have a family member whose life is filled with wanderlust it can’t be hard selecting a Christmas gift that will be fully appreciated.
So here are my top 5 traveler gifts for 2015. Maybe these suggestions will make it under your Christmas tree…
1. GoPro Camera
Travelers need their gear to be tough enough to withstand daily rough treatment, but also good enough to make great photos and video to share with everyone back home. GoPro is a traveler’s best friend. Durable and waterproof with the capability of producing high quality video and images, a GoPro is an affordable addition to any traveler’s life.
2. Portable Charger
These days everyone is living through their electronic devices, travelers included. With all the Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posting, tablets and smart phones run out of battery pretty quickly. A Portable Charger is a great device to have on hand. Whether on a bus in the middle of nowhere, in a hostel with no spare powerpoints, or just running your device empty whilst out and about a Portable Charger can have your phones and tablets back up and running quickly and easily.
3. Packing Cubes
It might seem boring after the last two items, but Packing Cubes are life-changing. Inexpensive, light weight, water resistant and available in a variety of sizes, to those of us who have used them they revolutionize packing.
4. Portable Coffee Maker
It can often be very difficult to get good cup of coffee when you’re traveling, especially if you’re a coffee snob. Hotel, hostel and airport coffee most often isn’t even deserving of being called coffee, but after a long flight or an even longer layover a coffee is sometimes all you can think of. Let me introduce the Portable Coffee Maker. To Produce a single cup of fresh coffee all you need to do is add hot water, add your favourite ground coffee, pump and let the freshly brewed coffee flow.
5. Swiss Army Knife
Now this may seem like an unusual gift inclusion but by far one of my most useful travel items is a Swiss Army Knife. You never know when you will need a knife, bottle opener, scissors or a corkscrew. Incredibly durable, sharp and portable, as long as you keep the Swiss Army Knife in your checked luggage when flying it will become one of your most treasured possessions.
