Plus Camping Roma is a gladiator among peasants (get it – gladiators…Rome…okay sorry).

A fabulous campground located in Rome, Plus Camping Roma is definitely more ‘glamping’ than actually camping.

I went in and out of the campground three times during my travels through Italy, and stayed in both sets of accommodation offered – tents and cabins.

The tents are set up with a bunk bed and a single bed, allowing for three people in each. Each bed has a light, and there are two powerpoints in each tent. Whilst basic, the tents are certainly sufficient, especially at the price of 10 euro per night for a shared tent.

Alternately the cabin accommodation is on the opposite side of the ground and provides two single beds, and a raised third bed which kind of hangs from the ceiling. The cabins have their own bathrooms, air conditioning and often have a picnic table out the front. For approximately 18 euro per night these are also a great option if you would like some cooler indoor comfort.

Plus Roma has it’s own supermarket (though the larger Panorama supermarket is also located directly across the road), restaurant & bar area, pool with deck chairs, and shared bathroom and laundry facilities.

There are two shower blocks within the campground and both are exceptionally clean and nice to use. At all times I was able to shower with hot water under a very well flowing shower. These facilities are better than many in-room hostel bathrooms I have used.

The camp ground is large which is great as there are many tour groups that come through, and they are able to be situated together allowing those not on tour to be away from some of the drunken craziness that can and does happen.

The only downside for Plus Roma is that it is a long way out of Rome City. There is a bus stop directly out the front and the bus comes usually every 1/2 hour, and then you must take the metro from Cornelia station into Termini. Overall it’s not too bad, however I have seen MANY pickpockets on the bus, especially when it is very full at peak times in the morning and afternoon. It is also not the best when trying to get there in the rain, as can be seen in my previously posted F*** you Rome video 🙂

Finally Plus Roma is also a good option for travelers who actually want to camp. There is an area available for traditional campers to drive in and pitch their tents, whilst making used of the campground facilities.

Overall the Plus chain of campgrounds have been great, however Plus Camping Roma is, in my opinion, the shining star.
