Loved-Up Travel Part 2: Sex

When traveling, international romances are expected. Traveling around the world, especially solo, opens you to new places, experiences and people. Whether it be a drunken hostel hook-up, a meeting of kindred spirits on a beautiful beach or a successful Tinder date, sex whilst traveling can be amazing.

Sex in hostels

Usually I only spend a short amount of time in one place. So meeting, connecting with and saying goodbye to people happens very quickly. A whirlwind romance can be exhilarating. But when you’re on the road, especially if both of you are travelers, the search for a suitable place to take your romance to the sex level can be an interesting challenge.

In my opinion, a dorm room shared with 4 – 12 roommates and the bottom bunk covered by a towel or two is not sexy. So if you’re lucky enough to be in a hostel that has private rooms, booking one for a night with your suddenly significant other is a very good option. However, if you’ve spent a drunken night with a gorgeous stranger who’s leaving tomorrow, but promising to rock your world tonight, the hostel bathroom may be your solution. At 3am it’s likely to be deserted, should be reasonably clean, and has a lockable door.

Going home with a local

Travelers can be very creative when it comes to finding secret sex locations. But if you happen to fall in lust with a local, a new world of possibilities opens up. If you’ve been chatting with someone for most of the night, your personalities clicked and one thing has led to another, great. Going home with a local can be amazing. If the night goes well and turns into a couple of days, eating breakfast together, visiting cool places and having amazing sex can be a highlight of your travels.

And whilst one night stands can be excellent, there are additional safety concerns when going home with a local. If you’re happily drunk at a bar and meet someone who doesn’t speak English, you don’t really speak their language and their tongue is the main reason you’re leaving with them, maybe stop and consider your options.

Hooking-up with a Tinder match

Tinder can also be a major contributor to your sex life whilst on the road. Many users are only interested in a quick hook-up and as I wrote about in Part 1 are usually upfront about it. If that matches with your Tinder goals, perfect. Meet the person in a public place, assess their real-life personality and hotness, and if you’re both happy to get naked, go for it. A Tinder local will probably have their own house or apartment available for your activities. So whilst you’re staring into their pretty eyes anticipating the next few hours, also pay attention to where you’re going and how you’re getting there. Even if for no other reason than an early morning exit will go so much more smoothly when you have some idea where you are.
